Overview Applicants should possess expert skills in analytical chemistry and method development. They will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists focused on the discovery and development of novel drug candidates. More specifically, the candidate will be responsible for, and oversee, activities related to development, optimization, and qualification of analytical methods in support of both small molecule and biologics research and development projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical development process from pre-clinical development through life-cycle management and be willing to engage with cross-functional teams seeking to develop methods in support of Insmed's platform of new chemical entities. Responsibilities Responsibilities: Acts as an analytical SME for internal product development using analytical techniques including but not limited to chromatography (HPLC, UPLC, FPLC, SEC, GC, etc.), mass spectroscopy (LC-MS, GC-MS, etc.), and other common analytical techniques in support of preclinical stage small molecule research projects. Lead activities related to analytical testing and method qualification, including preparation and review of protocols, SOPs, technical reports, and memo's. Develop and implement methods/strategies for quantitation, characterization, and stability testing of drug substances and drug products Review literature to learn new methodologies and attend/present at scientific conferences Able to evaluate, design and perform method development and qualification employing phase-appropriate approaches at different stages of development. Provide scientific guidance and leadership on methods development, optimization, qualification, technical transfer, product comparability, and stability programs related to Insmed's small molecule pipeline Mentor and coach scientists for method development and qualification and laboratory instrument troubleshooting Interpret complex data and solve scientifically challenging problems by providing direction to the Research Department. Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely records of method development and analytical data Perform data review to ensure accuracy, completeness, and validity Interact with internal partners, CROs and contract laboratories during the development of analytical methods, stability testing, and preparation of technical transfer documents. Cross-functional liaison working closely with internal stakeholders, including communication of potential issues/obstacles Present scientific results to the research group Qualifications: PhD with 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or MS with equivalent qualification and experience combination is required. Hands on experience using and interpreting data from various analytical techniques including but not limited to chromatography (HPLC, UPLC, FPLD, SEC, GC, etc.), mass spectroscopy (LC-MS, GC-MS, etc.); experience with Waters/Empower is preferred. Experience writing technical documents including but not limited to SOPs, Technical or development reports, and Method qualification reports. Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Capability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners. Ability to take initiative and work independently while effectively managing timelines. Excellent presentation skills both verbal and written. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Travel Requirements Less than 5% travel Salary Range Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
